As believers, we are to be thankful for everything because God tells us to give thanks in everything. This month is especially good at reminding us to celebrate how truly thankful we are for everything good God has given us.

Many view our circumstances as devastating or heartbreaking, but we don’t feel that way about our present situation. God has surrounded us completely in comfort, peace, and joy. The Holy Spirit’s presence within our home is overwhelmingly sweet, and God’s pours out His goodness and compassion on us daily.

We won’t deny there are brief moments that are difficult to endure. The hardest trial is watching Charlotte cry in pain as her body continues to regress. But even in those moments, we are still thankful. Those are the moments that force us to our knees begging for mercy and strength from God. Many times we have physically prayed over Charlotte and have seen God grant her mercy and relief from her pain–sometimes immediately. The power of God is real, and He is showing us every day how dependent we are on Him. In our weakness He is strong.

We are grateful for these hard moments; it teaches us how insignificant we are. We are thankful for the trying of our faith and patience; our prayer life grows stronger in the Lord. We are so thankful we have God to lean on through all of this; He is blessing us in ways we never thought possible.

This Thanksgiving season we have more to be grateful for than ever. We are so thankful that God is our tower of strength and our place of refuge. We are thankful He grants mercy to His afflicted ones. We are thankful we are growing closer to our Heavenly Father. We are thankful that God is always, only good.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Wallace family!
