Psalm 9:1 “I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works.”
Even in the midst of the storm, God has shown Himself faithful to us over and over again. God has bestowed many good things upon us these last few months—so many things for which to praise and thank Him. We are underserving of His goodness, and yet He favors us as His own children showing us compassion during this trial. Yes, we still experience difficult moments, but the blessings God has showered on us far outshine the hardships. We wanted to share a few “marvelous works” God has blessed us with lately.
- God has preserved Charlotte’s eyesight. The doctors told us her sight would be one of the first physical skills to regress, and she was supposed to be blind by two years old. She is now almost two and a half years old, and her eyesight is better than expected—and in fact, it appears to be improving.
- God supplied medical insurance to cover many of Charlotte’s needs. Her formula is 100% covered by insurance as well as special medical equipment.
- God has provided medical equipment. In the beginning, insurance denied all the equipment requested for Charlotte, but God intervened, and everything has been approved! We are excited because Charlotte may finally be able to sit at the dining room table with us again.
- We are praising God for Charlotte’s being able to make dirty diapers on her own. Charlotte struggles frequently with constipation, so we celebrate when there is a dirty diaper to change. We are so thankful she can still feel the urge to go on her own because we realize she may lose this skill.
- Charlotte can eat with bottles. She can still suck and swallow formula by herself and hasn’t shown signs of needing a G-tube yet. We are fervently praying that God will prevent her ever needing a feeding tube.
- God has given Charlotte a small team of therapists at no cost to us. They come to our home three times weekly to work with Charlotte and show us how to help Charlotte maintain or improve a few motor skills.
- God has given Charlotte a way of communication with us. She can respond with head nods, head shakes, grunting, and body language. The miraculous part is that some of these skills developed after her diagnosis. She responds to a few key words which helps us guess her needs.
- Through various sources, God has provided for every financial need, and we are humbled by the generosity of other Christians. We give thanks for every gift, and we praise God for allowing people to willingly give. He is providing all our daily needs.
- God has led many to send cards and messages of encouragement. We cherish each one and appreciate the kindness demonstrated. We also are thankful God always has the words of encouragement arrive in the mailbox on the specific day we need them most. Thank you.
- God has answered prayer and allowed Charlotte to remember how to smile. Though seldom, she sometimes delights us with small smiles or even a laugh. We had truly believed these delights had ended on Earth, but many prayed and God granted. We are humbled by His compassion.
We could share many more praises, but it’s beyond the scope of this one post. We have added a new webpage called “Prayer Requests & Praises” to our website so others may be able to pray more specifically for Charlotte and Sophie and share in our answered prayers.
Our biggest praise is that God is always, only good.
